The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) together with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination (CICC) Center held its 5th leg of Cybersecurity Caravan last Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at the Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus.

It was the DICT FOO Luzon Cluster 2 Regional Director, Ms. Cheryl Ortega , who welcomes the participants to the cybersecurity Caravan.

A keynote speech was delivered by DICT Assistant Secretary Allan Cabanlong. A brief introduction about Department of Information and Communications Technology was presented after the speech.

Various resource speakers were able to share informative details regarding the cybersecurity and how we can protect ourselves in the internet.

The resource speakers are as follows: ASEAN Engr. Jose Carlos Reyes, Ms. Fleur Nadua of the Cybersecurity and Enabling Technologies, Ms. Anggie Flavier of Palo Alto Networks, Atty. Issa Gayas from the National Privacy Commission and Engr. Roland Ong who also performed an actual demonstration of a malware attack.

There was an interactive audience during the discussions. Prizes were given to those students who answered the speakers. An open forum was also conducted after the discussion that participants clarified things to the resource speakers.

After the seminar, a meeting with academe was also held at the university gymnasium which was attended by the heads of different schools.

About 2,000 students of college and senior high school students from public and private schools in Laguna joined the caravan.
